wonderland

Last night I went to the DREAMS COME TRUE Wonderland 2011 concert at HOB Anaheim.  Simply put, they were amazing. Miwa has a powerful voice  and I loved that she was so happy to be there performing for her fans. I’ve never seen such a beautiful smile. And Masa’s sense of humor. They make such a great pair.
I was thrilled that they opened and closed the show with 2 of their popular songs (and also my favorites). 「何度でも (Nandodemo)」was one of the most listened-to songs after the earthquake in Japan the lyrics are full of words of encouragement. 「LOVE LOVE LOVE」is probably their most famous.

meals by genet

Tonight, Gabe and I dined at an Ethiopian restaurant, Meals by Genet. It was my first time eating Ethiopian food and I loved it! I highly recommend the vegetarian sampler and the chicken tibs (pictured above). The service was great, and the waiter explained to us how to eat the food (hands only!). Everything was so tasty! This place has good reviews on yelp so if you are craving Ethiopian food, this is the restaurant to go to. Click here for their website.
A satisfying way to end the week. Yum!

cherry blossom festival

Pictures from today’s events at the festival in Little Tokyo.
The cosplay was crazy! And good job to all the girls <3

bibimbap

Yesterday in my Korean 1 class, I was in for an unexpected treat: free bibimbap! The food was prepared by Bibimbap Backpackers, a Korean food promotion team from Seoul, Korea, traveling around the world to introduce Korean bibimbap. They were pretty generous about the sample portions.

They have a blog that you can check out here. Such a cute concept! What a great way to start the quarter :)

韓国語の授業で作りたてのビビンパを頂きました♪ ソウルからやってきたBibimbap Backpackersという若者達のチームが作ってくれました。このチームは、世界の国に韓国料理を紹介しようとしているのです。彼らのブログはこちら

one in a million

I’m currently hooked with this song by Yamapi (山下智久), and it turns out there is a German version of it which isn’t bad at all. Which one do you like better?

OC Japan Fair 2011

Yesterday, I participated in the OC Japan Fair in Costa Mesa. The weather was great, and there was a lot of good food there.
The girls and I walked in the runway show for 2WJD , a clothing boutique located on Sawtelle. We were always in a hurry, but the show went well. Afterwards, 3 of us performed “Tomoshibi” by Sunplaza Nakanokun. He wrote the song to cheer up the earthquake victims in Japan, so it was very meaningful to us. HWDEA (Hollywood Entertainment Academy)’s martial arts team did a great performance and demonstration despite an injury. Congratulations and great job  everyone!

I was so happy when I found out Layla Lane was going to perform at the fair. They are a 2-man band with Valerie on keyboards and Heday on guitar. Their song, “Happy Lane,” was used in the Coca Cola commercial in Japan (it’s so cute!). Their other songs are pretty good and they are talented performers. What an eventful and exciting day! :)

fashion’s night out – LA

Tonight was Fashion’s Night Out Los Angeles. I hadn’t been to Melrose in a while so it was a good opportunity to check it all out. Marc Jacobs was one of my favorite stops. And Diane von Furstenberg was definitely a crowd pleaser – they served drinks, hors devours, and had a flipbook photobooth set up. (p.s. Gov. Schwarzenegger peeked in DvF while I was there).
